Centaurus I

Centaurus I is an ultra-faint dwarf spheroidal galaxy located in the southern celestial hemisphere. Situated approximately 130,000 light-years away from Earth, it's part of the Milky Way's satellite galaxy system. The galaxy was discovered using data from the Dark Energy Survey. With an estimated radius of about 210 parsecs, it's considered one of the more distant known dwarf galaxies within the Milky Way's vicinity. Its proximity to the Milky Way and its faint luminosity (with an absolute magnitude of around -3.8) categorize Centaurus I among the dimmest known dwarf galaxies. The stellar population of Centaurus I mainly consists of older stars, possibly dating back to the early universe, with relatively low metallicity.
