Hercules Dwarf

Hercules is a dwarf galaxy that belongs to the Milky Way's satellite system. Located in the constellation Hercules, this galaxy was discovered in 2006. It is classified as a dwarf spheroidal galaxy due to its elongated shape and lack of significant star-forming regions. Hercules is situated at approximately 160,000 light-years from Earth. This galaxy is relatively small, with an estimated radius of about 350 light-years. Its absolute magnitude is approximately -6.5, making it one of the fainter known satellite galaxies of the Milky Way. The stellar population within Hercules is dominated by old and metal-poor stars, like other dwarf galaxies in the galactic halo.
