Leo IV

Leo IV

Leo IV is a dwarf spheroidal galaxy, one of the Milky Way's satellite galaxies, discovered in 2006 in the Leo constellation. It is situated about 160,000 light-years away from Earth. This galaxy is relatively small, with a diameter spanning around 2,000 light-years, and it contains a sparse population of stars. Leo IV is characterized by an ancient stellar population composed primarily of old and metal-poor stars, suggesting an early formation period, likely more than 10 billion years ago. Like many dwarf galaxies, Leo IV is deemed to possess a significant amount of dark matter within its structure.
