Leo T

Leo T

Leo T is an ultra-faint dwarf galaxy found within the Leo constellation. Discovered in 2006, Leo T is a relatively small and faint satellite galaxy of the Milky Way. It lies at about 420,000 light-years from Earth, making it one of the more distant satellite galaxies within the Local Group. Leo T's low luminosity, with an absolute magnitude of approximately -6, places it among the dimmest known galaxies. Due to its faintness and remote location, Leo T was challenging to detect and study. It contains old stars and displays characteristics typical of ultra-faint dwarf galaxies, containing relatively few stars spread over a large area.
