Pegasus IV

Pegasus IV

Pegasus IV, an ultra-faint dwarf galaxy, was discovered through a wide-area search of DELVE data. Analysis revealed it as an old, metal-poor system with a half-light radius of 41 pc, absolute magnitude MV = −4.25, and a retrograde orbit. Iron abundance measurements indicated very metal-poor characteristics. Gaia EDR3 data and distance constraints placed Pegasus IV at ∼ 90 kpc. The discovery highlights the ongoing exploration of ultra-faint Milky Way satellites, contributing valuable insights into dark matter properties and galaxy formation on small scales.
