Pisces II

Pisces II is a dwarf galaxy that orbits within the vicinity of the Milky Way. Discovered in 2009 as part of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), this satellite galaxy is in the Pisces constellation. Situated approximately 177,000 light-years from Earth, Pisces II is one of the faintest known satellites of the Milky Way. It exhibits a relatively small size, spanning about 440 light-years in diameter. Characterized as a dwarf spheroidal galaxy, Pisces II possesses a sparsely populated stellar assembly primarily consisting of old and metal-poor stars, indicating an early formation phase occurring over 10 billion years ago.
