Asteroid 24 Themis, discovered on April 5, 1853, by the Italian astronomer Annibale de Gasparis, is a significant celestial object within the asteroid belt situated between Mars and Jupiter. Named after Themis, the Greek titaness associated with divine order, law, and custom, this asteroid has an estimated diameter of approximately 198 kilometers (123 miles). Themis orbits the Sun at an average distance of about 416 million kilometers (258 million miles), completing its orbit in roughly 5.6 Earth years.
