Asteroid 39 Laetitia, discovered on February 8, 1856, by the French astronomer Jean Chacornac, is a significant member of the asteroid belt located between Mars and Jupiter. Named after Laetitia, the Roman goddess of happiness, this asteroid has an estimated diameter of approximately 113 kilometers (70 miles). Laetitia orbits the Sun at an average distance of about 383 million kilometers (238 million miles), completing its orbit in roughly 5.6 Earth years.
