41 Daphne

Asteroid 41 Daphne, discovered on May 22, 1856, by the Austrian astronomer Hermann Goldschmidt, is a significant member of the asteroid belt located between Mars and Jupiter. Named after Daphne, a nymph in Greek mythology who transformed into a laurel tree to escape Apollo's advances, this asteroid has an estimated diameter of about 174 kilometers (108 miles). Daphne orbits the Sun at an average distance of approximately 343 million kilometers (213 million miles), completing its orbit in approximately 4.3 Earth years.
