9 Metis

Asteroid 9 Metis, discovered on April 25, 1848, by the German astronomer Andrew Graham, is a significant member of the asteroid belt situated between Mars and Jupiter. Named after Metis, the Titaness of wisdom and the first wife of Zeus in Greek mythology, this asteroid has an estimated diameter of about 190 kilometers (118 miles). Metis orbits the Sun at an average distance of approximately 355 million kilometers (221 million miles), completing its orbit in roughly 4.3 Earth years.
