Psamathe

Psamathe

Psamathe was discovered in 2003 through observations made using the Subaru telescope in Hawaii. It takes its name from a sea nymph in Greek mythology, a common theme in Neptune's moon system. Psamathe orbits Neptune at an average distance of about 46.7 million kilometers from the planet's center, following an eccentric and inclined trajectory typical of Neptune's outer moons. Its orbit is influenced by gravitational interactions with Neptune's larger moon, Nereid, and other outer moons.
