Sao

Sao

Sao was discovered in 2002 through observations conducted using the Subaru telescope in Hawaii. This moon takes its name from Greek mythology, with Sao being a nymph. Sao's orbit around Neptune is characterized by its remote location, averaging approximately 22.6 million kilometers from the planet's center, and its eccentric and inclined trajectory, common among Neptune's outer moons. It is classified as one of Neptune's irregularly shaped moons and, like its counterparts, experiences gravitational interactions with Neptune's larger moon, Nereid, and other outer moons, influencing its dynamics.
