Nix

Nix

Nix was discovered in 2005 using the Hubble Space Telescope. This relatively small moon, with an estimated diameter of about 49 kilometers (30 miles), orbits Pluto at an average distance of approximately 48,700 kilometers (30,200 miles) from the dwarf planet. It draws its name from Nyx, the Greek goddess of the night and mother of Charon, another moon of Pluto, in mythology. Orbiting in a 3:2 resonance with Charon, alongside Pluto's other small moons Styx and Hydra, Nix contributes to the intricate gravitational dance of the Pluto-Charon system.
