Bianca

Bianca

Bianca was first discovered on January 23, 1986, during the Voyager 2 spacecraft's historic flyby of the planet. This moon, which draws its name from a character in Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew," is relatively small, boasting an estimated diameter of around 51 kilometers (32 miles). In terms of its orbital characteristics, Bianca maintains a moderately distant orbit around Uranus and is categorized as an inner moon. Notably, it follows a relatively circular and prograde orbit, aligning with the same direction as the planet's rotation. The precise origin and composition of Bianca remain subjects of ongoing scientific inquiry. It is thought to consist predominantly of water ice and rocky materials, a composition common among many moons in the outer solar system. Bianca's formation may have resulted from the gradual accretion of materials near Uranus or could be linked to its capture from distant regions such as the Kuiper Belt or the scattered disk. Bianca finds its place among the "Portia Group," a collection of moons sharing similar characteristics.
