Weywot

Weywot

Weywot was discovered in 2006 by astronomers Michael Brown and Terry-Ann Suer using the Hubble Space Telescope. This moon, with an estimated diameter of approximately 170 kilometers (106 miles), orbits Quaoar at around 13,000 kilometers (8,100 miles). Named after a figure in Tongva mythology, Weywot is associated to the sky and the son of Quaoar. Weywot’s nearly circular orbit around Quaoar suggests a relatively stable history within the Quaoar-Weywot system.
